The new CD from one of my personal favourite bands, The Decemberists, has been released on iTunes, and is available everywhere tomorrow, and it deserves your money more than pretty much anything else I can think of. Including a cure to cancer.

I’ve written up an article over at The Thoughtshake on why review scores are next to useless nowadays, in which I go on for longer than I intended. You can find it here, or by going to The ThoughtShake on the sidebar. Quote from it below:
I believe that by removing the scores from these reviews, not only would we force some reading upon these apparently near-illiterate Angry Internet Men, we would also allow them to make their own minds up about a game, rather than relying on a little number in their favourite publication. Instead, they might look through a review and think Hmm, this reviewer didn’t like this aspect of the game, but I think it sounds rather fun, or Hmm, this review enjoyed this feature, but it doesn’t sound like my cup of tea. That way, they would also stop becoming angry when they bought a game on the sole basis of the score a publication gave it and then discovering that it is, in fact, more of a racing game than a first-person shooter.

Stolen directly from here, this is basically what I wish I could say to the people on Yahoo Answers without becoming banned.

Well, mayannfp1958, climbing a clocktower generally gets their attention. If you’re not willing to go to those kinds of lengths, might I suggest writing a letter? Given I don’t technically have a television here at university, I could very well end this post with just the word “none”. However, I have been making do with what the internet gives me, be that iTunes, BBC iPlayer, 4oD or any number of other sources. In any case, I thought I’d get version 2 of Onamatopia going with a short post on my viewing habits, and what I think of them.

Ok, this is another revamp of this website, and this time I’m keeping it simple. I’m intending to keep this blog as more of my own personal space, while I’ll be posting more about videogames at The ThoughtShake. The layout you see right now may not be final, but I’m about to collapse from exaustion at the moment, having not slept yet, so it might hang around for a little while longer.
See you in a bit, probably.
